Memphis Area Charities to Receive Funding

The Monogram Loves Kids Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Monogram Foods, announces today that nine local organizations are the Memphis area winners of 2019 Foundation grants.

A committee of team members at the Monogram Foods support center in Memphis, TN divided a total of $50,000 between the charities. The initiatives funded by each grant are as follows:

Church Health Center –The funds will assist with the implementation of new P.L.A.N. Programing (People Loving Activity and Nutrition). This program provides access to educational information that develops a love for physical activity and healthier eating, both factors in preventing childhood obesity.

Memphis Child Advocacy Center – The funds will sustain access to life-changing therapies by supporting transportation to and from appointments for children receiving services at the Memphis Child Advocacy Center.

Bodine School- Funds will go towards providing Dyslexia Screening for rising kindergarteners in low income communities. Research indicates that early identification is key to ensuring children do not fall behind and have all the necessary resources to succeed academically.

Memphis Oral School for the Deaf  – Funding will go towards supporting the Sound Beginnings Program. This program is an early intervention family-training program designed to support and educate families with children from ages 0-3 who have been newly diagnosed with hearing loss.

Agape Child & Family Service – Families in Transition (FIT) nationally recognized model, serves homeless families in Memphis, primarily those fleeing from domestic violence. The funding will assist families in providing housing, workforce development, childcare as well as the most basic of assistance, up to and including food as support mechanisms for families to move towards self-sufficiency.

Harwood Center – The funds will enhance Harwood’s Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) program for children with autism by increasing the number of children served, reducing out of pocket expenses to families, and securing revenue needed for growing our ABA staff.

The Arc Mid-South – Funds will go towards assisting families with developing effective IEPs (individualized education Programming) for their children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This includes educating families on special education law so they can better advocate for their child’s needs in the present and future. 

Concord Academy– Funds will go towards providing fitness equipment the school’s LIFT (Lifetime Individual Investment Training) program. LIFT aims to engage students in a motivating way to develop lifelong habits of physical activity.

Southern Reins Center for Equine Therapy – Funds will provide new adaptive equipment for Hippotherapy for disabled children. Hippotherapy is a physical, occupational, and speech-language therapy that utilizes the movement of horses.
